BALKAN VELAYAT, 2 December - IP "TURKMENinform". Birds specialists of Khazar National Park located on Caspian seacoast held a regular bird count. The activity organized by Ministry of Nature Protection of Turkmenistan and Global Environment Facility (GEF) is held each year within the project “Conservation and Sustainable Use of Biodiversity”.
Caspian sea is a fine environment for a great variety of birds – from local sedentary species down to migrants from temperate zones of Russia, tropical countries, Africa, Asia and sub-Arctic regions which choose Caspian seacoast as a terminal on the way southward or prefer to stay for the winter for the mild climate and rich in food waters.
