WORLD NEWS, 8 December - IP "TURKMENinform". Yesterday, December 7, Turkmen delegation of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Relations of Turkmenistan came to Astrakhan region of Russia with a four-day working visit. The delegation is headed by V. Garyev, head of foreign economic relations department of the Ministry.
The main goal of visit is broadening cooperation in trade and economic sphere. Turkmenistan holds an interest in enhancement of vegetables, fruits and textile export to the markets of Astrakhan region and buying metal and dairy products. In this course the parties will discuss the possibility of opening joint Russian-Turkmen logistic centers to secure goods exchange between the two areas.
Astrakhan region is the most proximal to Turkmenistan area of Russia which has long-termed historic, economic and cultural relations with Turkmenistan. Astrakhan industry provides Turkmenistan with power equipment, building materials, ships and fishing equipment, technologies of commercial sturgeon fishery, and construction of oil-production platforms. Furthermore, Astrakhan region is the dwelling place for Russia’s largest Turkmen diaspora.
