ASHKHABAT, 22 December - IP "TURKMENinform". In the evening of Monday December 21 President of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Ashkhabad international airport to pay a working visit to Turkmenistan. The official part of the presidential visit started this morning December 22 and holded talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov on political and economic issues, mutually advantageous interstatal development in the field of telecommunications, transport, trade and agriculture, as well as relations in cultural and scientific spheres.
The two Presidents discussed the problems of international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking and transnational organized crime, and the economic agenda of the talks mainly focused on issues of cooperation in the fuel and energy sphere between the countries. Following the talks, the two leaders signed an Agreement between Russia and Turkmenistan to Expand Strategic Cooperation in Energy and Engineering according to which from the beginning of January 2010 Turkmenistan resumes up to 30 billion cubic meters per year gas supplies to Russia at European prices.
During the visit, Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov and Dmitry Medvedev also took part in the ceremony of opening of a new 10-floor building of the Alexander Pushkin Turkmen-Russian secondary school.
