The Kara Kum canal became longer02.01.2010 17:02BALKAN VELAYAT, 2 January - IP "TURKMENinform". On the threshold of new 2010 year a new branch of the artificial Kara Kum river (more known as the The Kara Kum canal) was put into operation in Serdar etrap of Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan.
The new irrigation canal originates from the 969th kilometer of the great man-made river. The construction of the new branch was initiated after a visit of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov to the etrap. The 38 kilometers long canal is supplied with hydraulic facilities for mud torrent withdrawal and 7 water-discharge systems.
