ASHKHABAT, 17 January - IP "TURKMENinform". On Friday January 15 during an expanded sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers (Turkmenistan's government) President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov signed a Decree on establishment of the Office of Financial Monitoring under the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan.The new body is to be responsible for activities on efficient prevention, revealing and suppression of money laundering and terrorism financing. The Office was set up in the course of execution of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Combating Legalization of Profits Obtained through Criminal Activities and Financing of Terrorism" from May 28, 2009.

The new state organization was created in the framework of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN and appears a part of the international program on combating terrorism provided by the United Nations Organization, the UN General Assembly and the Security Council.
